Beyond the Wand - Tom Felton

Book recommendation time!!! Anyone who knows anything about me knows I am extremely fond of Harry Potter. Tom Felton, actor portraying Draco Malfoy in the films, recently released a memoir. I could not recommend this read more.

No one has yet been able to beat me in trivia about the Potter books or movies. I probably rewatch the movies once a month. I have a rather obsessive shrine set up in my bedroom of Potter merch. Needless to say, the Wizarding World is a major facet of my personality and childhood.

Draco Malfoy is one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series. But, Tom Felton is far more than a Malfoy, he’s a distinguished actor and even a musician. If you haven’t checked out his music, do so, it’s fantastic.

Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton is an amazingly transparent, self-aware analysis of the life of a Felton brother. Tom delves into his childhood with his brothers and parents, grandfather and life as a wizard on set of the biggest films of their time.

Even better than the behind-the-scenes stories of my all-time favourite films, is the selfless and open descriptions from Felton’s family life and struggles with mental health. This memoir is one of the most beautifully written and honest stories I've ever come across. And if this happens to reach the eyes of Mr Felton/Malfoy himself, I thank you for your honest and transparent writing. Emma was right, you’re a very self-aware man with a heart of gold.
