Today is another instalment of the inspiration series, this time surrounding writing communities. Writing communities can be found just about anywhere. It can be just a few writer friends chatting or getting together, an in-person group at a local library or coffee shop, or on the variety of social media apps online.
Writing communities are great places to find inspiration for a new story. I don’t mean going searching for what others are saying about their works and stealing it, as many are cautious of. I mean they’re a good place to raise a topic and have a community of writers contribute and snowball on ideas and theories for you to decipher and maybe spark your brainstorming a new book.
Not only this, but with a play on the word inspiration, writing communities can provide another invaluable benefit to writers. Seeing others succeed is something I find so heartwarming and inspirational to my own journey. It reminds us that all the work we do as writers is worth it. We can succeed just like our peers, and we should celebrate and support our fellow writers when they find success and progress in their writing careers.
My personal suggestion is the twitter writing community. As a relative newbie there, I can assure all new writers will be welcomed and supported by the writers there. It's easy to find places to promote your writing, engage with the community and get advice on your writing and everything remotely related to it. It's an invaluable place for writers to be. Since I know a lot of my visitors find these posts through twitter, I'd like to take the time to thank you for supporting me and giving my work a chance when you clicked on the link that led you here.
